Extra Milton Meet Info for MS

Good evening Middle School XC parents.

Here's extra meet information that we were emailed today from the Milton Cross Country Invitational.

Coaches:

Thank you for attending our meet. Looks like tomorrow is going to be the perfect day for XC racing. Some information to make tomorrow smoother.

Parking: Please remind parents that we are asking for a donation of $5 for parking. This was added to compensate for the rising cost of supplies. I rather do this than increase meet fees. We have a drop & go if you need to drop off tents or runners. Remind parents parking is in a big field. Coaches show your badge to bypass donation.

Waivers: Please have a signed waiver for every runner and turn in at the check-in station. Runners who are doing the Fun Run needs a signed waiver too. Have them signed a waiver and turn in to the check-in station too. You can pay your fees at the check-in station too.

Boxes: No assigned boxes. Will have one command and go when the whistle blows.

Chip Racing: We will have parents help in removing chips after the race. Please check behind us for missing chips. No bibs.

Fields: Fields will be open to walk at 8 am. The race includes grass, rock and gravel. Oh yeah...there are hills too. The course is clearly marked and there will be a gator in the front and rear of the race. Be sure to let runners know to stay on the course. We found poison ivy & possibly a snake or two.

Food: We will have a food truck set up with breakfast food, Donut Country Donuts and Concessions selling drinks and bake goods.

Trash: We will give each team a trash bag and we will pick up the trash bags after the race. Do not put them in the dumpster.

7213 North Milton Road, Milton TN.

Macon County Wrap-Up - New Girl's Leader

The boys team joins Harley in prayer before her race.  As we prepare for the state qualifier on 10/25, we stopped in at Macon County for a practice run through.  Today's meet is the same location as the qualifier that will be in 19 days. We were pleasantly surprised with a couple breakthroughs and some more personal records. The photo doesn't do this finish line hill justice. That finish line was a beast!   In the coaches rumor mill around the water cooler, the commonly shared opinion is that Macon County is a +0:35 course, meaning that overall times are generally 35 seconds slower here than on normal courses. There are multiple factors contributing to slower times, such as the amount of hills, a slightly longer distance measured at 3.13 miles on GPS, and higher thicker grass increasing friction with each of the runner's 3000ish steps.  BIG STORY - In spite of the challenges, the weather was perfect for our biggest story of the meet.  Freshman Harley Johnston, who alone

Burnett Invitational Wrap-Up

I'll download and curate photos later for highlights. Catch lots of great photos on these Facebook accounts:  https://www.facebook.com/chris.godsong https://www.facebook.com/jacque.c.powell Here are some of the highlights from today's meet.  High School Boys:   Gabriel Wiles earned his first sub-19min race at 18:57, which definitely solidifies him as an individual state contender. He also won a medal for finishing in the top 20 (at 19th place), his 3rd medal of the season. He has one more month to improve toward the state qualifier on Oct 26th.  John Durfee had the biggest PR of the day by 3:06 earning huge gains in poin
