Announcement for Middle School Runners

Message from Coach Segraves MS Parents and Runners, It is difficult for me to tell you all this, because I have truly enjoyed these young men and women, but the MS season is officially over.  White County Middle School is an active member of the MS TSSAA membership.  Therefore, we have to follow all of their guidelines, ie, starting dates, and ending dates.  The official ending date is 10/1/22 and the Chick-Fil-A is a HS meet only.  I really do think we achieved our goal by getting MS kids hooked and interested in Cross Country.  I can’t tell you how proud all of us coaches are of the improvement of their times and the way they acted and carried  themselves at the meets.  They worked hard and did everything we asked of them. We will be having a banquet in November (After the HS season).  We will get all the information out to you all as soon as possible.  Please bring the uniform and practice uniform to the banquet.  The long sleeve shirt is for the students to keep for their hard work

Crossville/Milton Wrap-Up - MORE PR's!

These athletes keep posting new personal records each week.  The general consensus was that both courses for the middle and high school squads were tougher than many of our normal courses. Crossville had more asphalt and mud puddles while the Milton course had more hills, rocks, and roots.  Adults can run 2 miles too! In spite of the challenges, our White County Cross Country athletes still posted 10 new personal records PR's this past weekend.  Here are some of the highlights:  The middle school girls team beat Rockvale Middle School in points!  We were just edged out of another place by South Middle School. We're improving!  https://tn.milesplit.com/meets/492995-milton-invitational-2022/results/834731#.YyjBXHbMKUk Gabriel Wiles had his 3rd top 10 finish at 6th place. Emma Nash continues to be the lead runner for Middle School, a tough feat for a female in this sport. Jackson Burch made a huge leap in PR by 1:39, which is a big change for a higher pace runner. Extra Milton Meet Info for MS

Good evening Middle School XC parents.  Here's extra meet information that we were emailed today from the Milton Cross Country Invitational.  Coaches: Thank you for attending our meet. Looks like tomorrow is going to be the perfect day for XC racing. Some information to make tomorrow smoother. Parking: Please remind parents that we are asking for a donation of $5 for parking . This was added to compensate for the rising cost of supplies. I rather do this than increase meet fees. We have a drop & go if you need to drop off tents or runners. Remind parents parking is in a big field. Coaches show your badge to bypass donation.  Waivers: Please have a signed waiver for every runner and turn in at the check-in station. Runners who are doing the Fun Run needs a signed waiver too. Have them signed a waiver and turn in to the check-in station too. You can pay your fees at the check-in station too.  Boxes: No assigned boxes. Will have one command and go when the whistle blows. Chip Ra

WCHS XC Keeps the PR's Coming

It was another great morning to run the races even if it was a hurried morning.  We had some successes and some learning opportunities.  Out of 26 runners this weekend, our athletes achieved 19 new PR's (personal records)!  Take a look at yesterday's middle school wrapup here:  https://www.wchsxc.com/2022/09/wcms-piles-up-personal-records.html We love cross country because it is one of the few sports where you get immediate results.  What you get out of it is what you put into it.  In other sports, you may spend weeks in practice and still sit the bench or still lose a game.  In XC, if you're training properly and consistently, you'll see immediate results with lower times soon after. We love the improvements these athletes are seeing from their hard work!  There were over 400 boys in the Varsity Race today! Thanks to John Gottlied for taking photos. Successes:  Our high school runners had 6 new personal records today with Ashton Randolph showing the biggest change dro

WCMS Piles up Personal Records!

Thirteen out of fourteen runners set a new personal record on a 2 mile course tonight which is amazing and an achievement these kids should be proud of.  Yet it was Emma Nash who was the standout star for White County Middle School tonight in the Voyles Classic course at the Hermitage!  Emma Nash (8th grade) was the top runner for both the boys and girls squads with a time of 16:28, beating her previous record by 1:27!  That's a HUGE improvement in just 8 days from the previous meet! Colton Courtney (8th grade) was the top male runner for White County at a time of 16:44, besting his previous record by 0:28. He just keeps getting better every race.  Our top 5 male runners improved the team average time to a respectable 17:38.   Our top 5 female runners averaged an improved 18:19. We're also excited to have had four new runners who completed their first race tonight: Alexis Freeman, Aaliyah Hawkins, Jackson Burch, and Michael Johnson.  In other related news, Jackson dropped a soc
